When you took the gold ingot from that gold refining video to be cut with the water jet guys, how much of it was unrecovered? It didn't seem like there was enough in the pan afterward to make up the thickness of the cut.

Cody, I don't suggest putting exact numbers about your profits. Youtube has demonetized other content makers for similar reasons.

What are the legal requirements for your use of explosives in the mine? Do you need permits to buy and use explosives?

Sorry that i'm going to answer this but most rock blasting is done with anfo / dynorex aka dynamite replacement. Anything more sensitive won't even be produced anymore. Because of dangers and needs a production license from the atf

Hey Cody. Long time viewer, short time patron. Grats on 7 years! I have two questions: are you still in the running for a trip to mars? (I saw the heavy launch yesterday from about 30 miles, so cool!!) Also, you mentioned extracting mercury from tuna. I am very interested on that, how soon can we expect that video?

Q.In your mining videos you mentioned about creating a vacuum in the mine or at least making it possible to live in it short term. Is this still something you plan to do? And If so do you have a schedule for it?

Q. What happened with Youtube? Did you just log in and find all your stikes were gone etc? Or did you manage to find a real person at Youtube?

What can we do to protect your channel?

What would you recommend if I was trying to isolate copper out of brass? so far I have tried two things: increasing the zinc content to greater than 75% then eating it away with HCl but that has been going for more than a week, I have also tried just boiling away the zinc in a furnace that i made, but the map gas keeps running out and kanthal doesn't seem to get hot enought?

Will we see anymore explosive type videos from you now that YouTube is cracking down on them?

what do you think of the people on 4chan's /sci/ board who want to have your channel taken down and have been submitting a number of false copyright claims?

Minor nitpick point: The conjugate acids of monovalent (halide) compounds are generally named "hydro halidic" acids. So the conjugate acid of the hydride ion would be "hydro hydridic acid".

Hey Cody! I saw your video on removing gold from electronic gold pins and you said it took you about a week to remove the gold from a hand full of them! Well.. I have about 50 pounds or so of the gold plated pins. What would be the best way to remove the gold from them? Also I do not have the most money in the world so the cheaper the better!

One question I've had since first watching you, and I apologize if this question is misinformed, but the dangers of working with mercury is when it evaporates, as far as I understand, and yet you seem to work with mercury often.

Is the danger simply in working with it in a confined space? As in, breathing it in 8 hours a day in a small room?

Not really a question but something to help you out:

If you want a better way to produce potassium you can try using this method (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1MVv0u2tmw) which uses calcium which has an even higher boiling point (lower vapor pressure) than both lithium (the metal that you used to make cesium) and sodium, there are some other videos like that!

Ca: 1,757 K (1,484°C or 2,703°F)

Li: 1,603 K (1,330°C or 2,460°F)

Na: 1,156 K (883°C or 1,621°F)

Bonus Fact: lithium metal is actually pretty easy to come by (despite being an alkali metal) since it's used in lithium batteries so you can easily obtain lithium metal!! Calcium might be more expensive than lithium (or maybe not) but it should theoretically work even better than lithium due to its higher boiling point :)

Lets say hypothetically I had some Ammonium Nitrate and Diesel fuel, I've heard you could in theory make a vigorous explosive with it, not that I will, I'm not stupid(and also it's illegal for civilians), how does it work, is it a contact explosive or flammable? Basically how do you set it off?

In addition to substantial impact (ie, a blasting cap) mixtures of ammonium nitrate and fuels can detonate spontaneously if heated up sufficiently, so such things should never be allowed to get hot, or you will have a bad time.

Where do you get your lab glassware? I have been looking to get into home chemistry like that featured on your channel and am curious.

Can you clarify your living situation, some videos are at the ranch and some in the city it seems like. Do you live by yourself? And why aren't you at the ranch more often?

Hey cody greetings from Germany. I have got a question and im verry curious about it. As far as i know one can dissolve electrons in liquid ammoniak by cooling the ammonia down to the point where it condenses. Is it possible to liquify the ammonia with pressure while the alkalnie metal is already inside of the container? If so and my theory works would it be possible for you to do this experiment with one of your glas tubes like you did with the supercritical co2? So you would have a solvated electron solution at room temperature while beeing able to look at it without the freezing water blocking the view. Sorry for my bad english. Stay safe <3

Hi, Cody, There is a lot of conflicting information out there about restoring a car battery. Some say add Epson salt solution to top off the battery, some say drain the sulfuric acid completely and use only Epsom salt solution, (some even say to use baking soda solution to clean the plates!), some say never use Epson salt solution! Would you please discuss the chemistry involved and therefore the best solution? Thanks for sharing your fountain of knowledge.

Hey Cody! I have been working on a gift for my daughter and I think I need your help. What I'm trying to do is cast a metal castle directly into a soap stone base. I know that soap stone has been used as molds for casting metals for thousands of years and I'm hoping that if I heat the stone up to the same temperature as the liquid aluminum and carve channels into the soap stone to help the metal catch than it will be a single statue of both materials. Thus far I have carved the stone into the outer walls of the castle (and a base to sit on, kinda like an ash tray) and I have carved bees wax into a keep and spires that fit snuggly into the stone. Pancakes or Waffles?

Hi cody! I have been obsessed with lead and refining lead all my life, as long as i remember. I just took my introductory chemistry class and I finally gained the ability to attempt refining it on my own. I am attempting to refine it chemically, although not electrochemically. Over the past month I have been dissolving a couple pounds of lead bullets in vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. I have being having a gray sludge building off which won't dissolve and I only recently figured out that that was antimony, however there is very little I could uncover about the chemistry of dissolving Arsenic in vinegar or lead arsinate and i am concerned about getting arsenic contaminating my lead. I am first precipitating lead out of solution with HCl as lead chloride and i later precipitate the rest out with Epsom salts as lead sulfate. I then leach out the antimony from the undesolving gray sludge as antimony chloride, I then dilute the hydrochloric acid/ antimony chloride with water to precipitate the antimony chloride out as antimony oxychloride. Have you done this before? Would you be willing to give me any advise if you can think of anyway my lead or antimony may be being contaminated? And more importantly, if I were to Patron you, how much would it cost to make it worth your while two refine the individual components of lead bullets yourself and show how that might be done? Or battery grids. It would be really great to see someone with more knowledge showing what is going on, especially you, although i am sure you would not use vinegar, and i know this would not be economical. Also, if i send you a private video explaining and showing more thuraly what i have been doing, would you be willing to ge me any feedback? It would be so immensely helpful. Sorry for how long this turned out.

Ever thought about launching something into space? In earlier videos it seemed like a goal of yours (with all the rocketry)....

It seems like it would be an interesting project, even just launching a cubesat ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CubeSat ) with a camera on it for the channel. The cost to launch one as additional payload is 100k, but I wonder if with partnerships and crowd funding it would be possible (along with increasing your profile if you got the right partnership or designed a purpose for the sat for some research).

Hi Cody, I was doing some aluminium casting the other day, and there were some contaminants in the crucible. I do not know what had been put in the crucible as it is shared in school, however, I do know some of the properties of it, so please could you help me to identify them? The substance was a liquid at around or below 900 degrees c, it burnt with the intensity of magnesium, but had a yellow/green colour. The substance was also slightly explosive, like a small firework, and finally it is sparkly when solid, as there were sparkles in the final cast.

In one of his videos (and imo the most mind blowing), Infinite Improbability Issues, he says that its possible that in a universe, when you flick a switch, a gold ingot appears out of nowhere (because of the coincidental collision of all the atoms around to form pure gold). One thing that I found interesting about the recent Falcon Heavy launch that got me thinking during the livestream was the "dust" that seemed to accumulate on and around the car at some points during the few hours the payload began to coast in the Van Allen Belts. Another interesting phenomenon were the particles that seemed to sporadically start floating off and fly around the car during several points, and I wasn't sure if it was actual dust particles, or ice, or even the polymer in the car's paint reacting with the solar and Van Allen Belt radiation. Hey codydon question i was trying to remove rust from some old copper wire i found in the Utah rocky mountains anyway i walked home and mixed it with vinegar and forgot about it for about 4 months now there's a off blue liquid that settled at the bottom but the vinegar seems to have evaporated for the most part any answer for what the blue liquid is.
