Josh Wise

May 5, 2014

I am Josh Wise the driver of the Dogecoin No.98 car AMA!

You all are AWESOME!! I have to get to bed but I will be around and hope to chat it up more in the future!!

I have two quick questions for you Josh:

  1. Why was is that you were always taking the outside line? A lot of people would get mad whenever you would take the outside although I doubt they really knew what they were talking about.

  2. What happened when you were in 4th place and then all of the sudden dropped way back into like 30th? I was sooo pumped when you were up there in the front! I'm sure a lot of my fellow shibes were exstatic as well.

In the end I was so happy for you man! Great job out there in the race and thanks for doing such a great job of promoting Dogecoin!

My car didnt have good speed on the bottom lane. I tried dropping down there a couple times but it would just kill my speed. I could keep it wound up and make better ground up top. The bottom was the best line so this was unfortunate.

people started dropping out of the top line. usually the line with the most cars in it prevails.

Hey Josh, Great Race!! Congrats on the Top 20 finish, and bringing the car home in one piece. Great accomplishment at Dega.

Shoutout to /r/Dogecoin and /r/NASCAR for the awesome job they did in organizing the sponsorship. It was soo much fun watching you race yesterday.

people were very curious. I spent ALL weekend explaining it!

strategy was working perfectly. even coming to the white flag I was in great position with a big run and the 18 car cut in front of me and killed momentum. I had to lift to not wreck him

Why did you lift up for him though?

If I didn't lift we all crash and I finish p30...lose lose situation unfortunately

Was the solo pit done on purpose for exposure, or just a happy accident?

Watching you race yesterday gave me feels like I imagine a parent gets when watching their kid in the school play. Ear-to-ear grin whenever you were on screen! Such pride!

nope not on purpose but worked out good! had a vibration.

Josh, first of all, thank you for being such a good sport and taking the Dogecoin community seriously. I'm sure there are some who would not have.

My question to you is, do you personally see a future in Dogecoin? Where do you see the coin a year from now? Five years? I know you're pretty new to this yourself, but a newcomer's view of the coin could be very insightful.

I do see a future! Blows me away that it has only been around for 5 months or so!

Hi Josh,

thanks for doing this AMA!

Do you think the doge on the back of the dogecar had an impact on other drivers?

Like this:

Also, Dale Earnhardt Jr. 'blamed' you for him not making it forward, I blame the doge:

What was going through your mind when do(d)eging (hahahaha geddit) the last big one? This is the one I mean. GIF

Also, I made you a movie poster:

EDIT: fixed autocorrected dogecar spelling

That video is so funny :)

Hello Mr. Wise! First off, thank you for doing this AMA. It was truly incredible watching you race yesterday. I was amazed that a community that started out so small could have done something like this. I've been a NASCAR fan since I was a kid and it was great to see something I helped achieve out on the racetrack. You were nearly taken out in multiple wrecks, what was going through your head at these times, especially the one right at the beginning with Keselowski? Thanks again for doing this AMA and driving the Dogecar!

dont have much time to think. its all gut reaction!

yes! /u/Newman4185 was saying that joshwise/dogecar merchandise sales could be used to help sponsor josh and the dogecar in future events! i think that could be a very good idea!

I like this idea

Not from US and neither I watch Nascar but I voted for you because of the car and you look like a really nice guy. Much luck and very driving!

Thank you

Josh -

Do you have any thoughts on being one of the only crowdfunded cars to ever drive in a NASCAR race?

Also, you were amazing. Even if we never get to sponser you again (but I hope we do!), you've got a fan for life.

To the moon!

It has been a ton of fun!

Great job on a solid run yesterday! I was rather impressed with your needle-threading abilities during this incident.

What was going through your mind, as you were driving >190mph, when Johnson spins causing chaos directly in front of you?

"AH! dont hit him!!"

Hey Josh, I wanna start by saying great drive last Sunday. I think I speak for all of us at /r/NASCAR and /r/dogecoin, even on Reddit in saying that it was really fun watching you wheel that dogecar around the track!

My question is something that’s been bothering me for a while now. Here it is: How much do you guys really learn or benefit from competition cautions? I mean, do you really learn anything new about tire wear and track conditions? Thanks Josh, keep up the great work out there!

sometimes a lot sometimes not necessary

Hey Josh! Thanks for doing this AMA!

Anyway, i wanted to ask you if you thought this situation distracted any other drivers or even you? Also, was it fun to be in this race, and to be funded by this community?

nah no distraction. just wanted to do my best for everyone

How much has the attitude in the shop at Phil Parsons Racing changed amidst all of the publicity and support your team has received in the recent weeks?

They love it but my guys at the shop are racers and work their tails off with or without attention. they are great

What do you usually do before a race? What do you usually do after a race?

eat and talk with people or my team. after i cant wait to get home and see my girls!

How freaking cool was it being in 4th at Talladega???!!!!

Any chance to get the nickname Shibe? Josh "shibe" wise. Shibe Wise.

Haha why not..

Ever pooped your pants?

my mom said i used to all the time when i was a baby

Hey Josh, congrats on the top 20 at Dega! It was awesome to see the Dogecoin car out there and on TV, you guys got some great exposure!

That actually leads me to my question, has all the recent exposure brought on any other sponsorship deals for the rest of the year? I really hope it does, you and PPR have done some awesome things for a small one car team this year. Good luck in Kansas!

nothing solid but attention cant be bad

Josh! It was awesome watching you on Sunday! I've never really watched NASCAR before but as long as you're racing you've got a lifelong fan in me! I don't really have a question, except maybe what was going through your head when you were avoiding those crashes? My heart was pounding, but you pulled off some slick manuevering! Thanks for hanging out with us shibes, and I hope to see you in the Sprint All Star Race! (Vote for Josh, everyone!)

P.S. - Today's my birthday and this AMA is a great ending to an already awesome day!

Did you ever just look at your car this weekend and just think 'wow'? Also, thank you for being still being active on reddit and being a great spokesperson for our community (both reddit and dogecoin)

Much wow!

Haha hmm

Josh thanks for your involvement and congratulations on your great performance yesterday. My question is a favorite over on /r/NASCAR.

Doc and Marty McFly from Back to the Future appear to you in their time machine Delorean DMC. They offer to take you to any race in the past. Which one would you be in and why?

Thats pretty tough! You guys might not like my answer but I would have to go to an old indy 500! maybe one where foyt won or something.

Hey Josh! It’s me Jonathon, part of the Moolah team that you met down at Talladega. I just wanted to again thank you for such an awesome opportunity to come see you race and for being a part of this stellar community :)

Here is a picture of the Moolah team and several other redditors with you after the race:

(Thats me in the middle with the orange glasses and my son on my shoulders)

Now for my question: What was your favorite part about this race?

It was great running up front with 20ish to go

How long will you spend this week studying or thinking about how your race went? Has your result rocket-boosted your confidence for upcoming races?

I make some notes and reflect then move on instantly to the next week. I have good confidence no matter the results. I feel like I know I am capable of getting the job done!

Hey Josh! Did you really expect all of this support? Nice driving on Sunday!

NO! but its great

Foxes: best animal, or bestest animal?

Also how much fun did you have?

Thanks for doing this AMA and for being awesome in general. I've been a NASCAR fan for 25 years and yesterday was probably the most fun I've ever had watching a race.

Now to my question.

Did any of the other drivers comment on your car? If so what was your favorite reaction?

did you not see the video of Carl Edwards getting zapped!?

And the 99 hit the CAT car!

If this isn't already (I don't watch nascar, sorry :/) a permanent car, it absolutely should be.

That would be great!

Hey Josh! I had never seen a Nascar race until Taladogea yesterday. I was like a little kid on Christmas morning while watching and looking for the dogecar. Thanks for being the best person we could have sponsored! You did terrific! As far as a question goes I just wanted to know if you like pineapples on your pizza?

Heck yes!!!

Do you want endless pizza delivery? Cause that's how you get it.

Endless pizza?!

You're the first AMA I've been on time for!

What would you say was the most exciting moment of the race?

Always last few laps at Dega

Hi Josh, Thank you for being such a great brand ambassador for dogecoin and reddit! It was a great experience watching you learn about dogecoin and become involved in the community all the way up through racing the dogecar!

My question is about your other style of racing- triathlons! What races do you have on your horizon? What are your goals as a professional triathlete? Also, which of the three (swim/bike/run) is your favorite?

Half Iron Man in July! Swim and bike love! Run....not so much :)

But really, did you know about dogecoin before riding the dogemobile?

nope. I do now!

Hey Josh! Thanks for the opportunity! My only question is what were the reactions of the other drivers?

Some were curious about what dogecoin was

Mr. Wise, Congrats on your success – many people don’t think NASCAR drivers are athletes but you are…do you think swimming contributes to your ability to drive the car on these extended tracks?

fitness def helps. races are long and hot and mentally draining!

Thank you for returning the love of Dogecoin/reddit....

With the increased attention, (i.e. Josh Wise Google searches up, tweets up, all the media attention, interviews, people all over the globe watching NASCAR for the first time ever to see you race) How has Dogecoin changed your day to day life?

What are you doing today that you wouldn't have been doing 2 months ago, before Doge? (besides redditing)

I am addicted to reddit that would be the biggest thing!

Hey man GOOD Job Yesterday , What YOU Feel after the finsh? Wanna Drive the DogeCar one more time?

Grettings from Brazil

depends on the race but i wanted a better finish yesterday and thought we had it in the making!

What do you think drivers behind you were thinking when they saw that adorable dog on the back of your car?

hey there josh, I was beginning to think you weren't coming :P

I just want to thank you for everything you've done for dogecoin, it's been incredibly fun these past few weeks, and we couldn't have done it without you!!!

so now for my question: If you had to move to any other country in the world, where would it be?

I havent been to many other countries but would want to be near a nice beach!

Hey Josh, I wanted to say you made me a huge fan!

Is there any way to buy the crew shirts from the race?

We are working on some merch

What were the differences between this sponsorship from reddit/dogecoin vs others that you experienced?

Thanks for kicking ass!

Way more fun! Not so corporate

Were you allowed to vote for yourself?

What was your initial reaction seeing so many people dedicated to making sure the maximum amount of people voted for you?

Edit: My first ever answer to an AMA, yay! :D

Im still blown away

Hey Josh! Denis here!

I just want to say thanks and I am really happy with everything you've done. Hopefully I get to meet you! Who knows, the shibes can sponsor racegod again!

your the man

Mr. Wise,

I have been downvoted all day because a lot of my “Reddit friends” don’t have a full love of how NASCAR works…what would you recommend so that we can build a bigger base and support you more?

Let me talk to em... :)

What. the. heck. You post this, and in one minute you have 28 comments already! How does that feel?

I feel bad because I want to answer them all!!

How did you get into racing? and have you had any serious injuries?

Raced since I was 6yo. Yeah had some rough crashes when I was coming through the ranks

where did you start? karting?

Kind of. I race quarter midgets which are like karts that race only on ovals

Thoughts on JR blaming you for not winning sunday?

Havent seen it but thats silly. He shoulda pushed me

I am going to talk with Phil about this this week and make a plan!

I want to thank one of your tire changers for letting me touch your's and Phil's nuts.

I also want to thank you for coming over and sign autographs when we yelled for you next to the driver introduction stage. Unfortunately, I didn't think to have you sign the nuts for my kids and never did get your autograph. Is there any way that I could send these in and request that you sign them? My 2 kids would love that. My 7 year old son is really a Jimmie Johnson fan, but I keep telling him that he needs to change the 48 on his shirts to the number 98. My 3 year old daughter isn't old enough to choose, so please help her become a fan of your's.

Whatever your answer, thanks for taking out the time to do this AMA.

haha send them to the race shop I sign everything that comes in

RIP in peace inbox.

1 Danica Patrick sized duck or 100 duck-sized Danica Patricks?

How scary was it dodging all of those wrecks that were intensely close to you?

not at all. your so in the zone you dont even think about it!

When you dropped back from fourth, was that intentional thinking that there was a Big One, or because you stayed on the outside too much

it was because i was in the outside too much

Did any of the other drivers ask about Dogecoin? If so what did you tell them?

yep! told em everything I knew and how awesome the community was!

Josh, congrats on finishing in the top 20 and for having the best damn looking car out there yesterday. You made a great move to avoid Joey Logano when Jimmie Johnson spun out. As someone who will never experience that at near 200 mph, do you have time to react to a crash like that, or is it pure reflexes?

Hey many times did you have to explain what a doge coin was?

And I so wanted Jr to push you to the front....

Hey Josh!

  1. How has the Dogecoin community influenced your view on sponsorships and would you consider doing anything with the Dogecoin/Reddit community again?

  2. As I'm sure you know, you've brought a lot of new fans into the sport (myself included) how does that feel?

P.S: You did us proud Josh! Great driving out there and you've gained a lot of new fans! (about 80,000 to be exact).

It feels cool. I am just a normal guy who doesnt really deserve too much credit

How much will it cost to sponsor you in another race?

We try to get 55-60k per race. It's what we really need to stay operating at a competitive level. There are all kinds of ways to get there though.

Cheaper than I expected.

Maybe you should start offering a surprise message service to rich people.

I'd like to see a Mary Lou I want a divorce car.

Haha that could get interesting!

How do you make a small fortune in racing?

Start out with a large fortune.

What was more important: finishing 20th, or keeping the car clean through all of those near misses?

Great job over the last month, both driving the car and building such a great relationship with fans/sponsors. Hopefully future potential sponsors see what you've done and throw more funding towards PPR!

Keeping car clean until the last lap. after that you just go for it

Was the pitstop alone deliberate? We were going NUTS here when they had to focus on just you for a minute! Thanks for being awesome and avoiding all the wrecks! TO THE MOON!

no but it worked out good huh!?

What's your typical pre-race meal?

lots of veggies and water

What went through your head when you realized or were told that you were getting crowd funded by a crypto currency the face of which is a Shiba inus that says WOW a lot?

It took a little while to understand. But the more I knew the more I loved it!

I've always wondered, have you invested any amount of money into Dogecoin? No judgement either way!

Just curious.

Also great race, I didn't get to watch it live, but I saw a lot of it online. Fantastic stuff.

I have not but do plan to. Phil and I have both talked about this. I also enjoy the fun side of it.

Build a mining rig for the garage!

If Dogecoin took over as full sponsor, would you do it or would you want another sponsor? And if the Dogecoin car is in Nascar 2014, I'd just race in your car lol

That would be so awesome to have dogecoin full time!!!

What car do you drive when not in the dogecar?

I am about to blow your mind! I drive my wifes car that she owned since before we got married. 2007 Acura TSX :) gangstaaa. ok maybe not

How much to get a big doge decal on your wife's car?

We should just wrap it like the race car!! Haha that would be amazing. It is our 5 year anniversary this week...

Dude the TSX is a slick car. I used to drive my Mom's TL. 270 HP and I think it redlined at like 7-8k RPM. So much fun to drive. It was all top-end power so you'd get halfway through a gear and just start zooming.

I use iRacing Its amazing

First time being the guy with the best looking car at the party?

I would just like to say I have never been interested in watching Nascar until now. now I have someone to root for and someone that makes me want to pay close attention to what before seemed like a mind numbing circle of cars. THANK YOU JOSH

Awesome thank you

yea never a fan of nascar, and i always enjoyed f1, ama moto/supercross among other motorsports. now i think i may pay attention just to see you.

also do you do any other motorsports? go to local autox's or track days? ride dirt bikes?

Cool thanks!

I did ride dirt bikes growing up. We lived in Southern California so lots of riding there. My hobby away from the track now is triathlon :)

Josh, I have been a NASCAR fan for a long time, however, this Dogecoin sponsorship and race at Talladega made me the most excited for a race EVER! How would you describe your feelings leading up to possibly the biggest race of your career on Sunday?

I actually put a lot of pressure on myself. I had all of you counting on me!

to think if a worse driver had spun out and crashed you ten laps in to the race what a shame it would've been

That would have been bad

hey man I didn't watch the race, but reading all of these comments was very inspiring. Reading this response in-particular made me really feel like you're the right guy to represent such a community. I might not be a NASCAR fan but I am definitely a Josh Wise fan! I think I'll tune in to the next race.

That's awesome thank you

Great driving yesterday! How many dogecoins to sponsor the rest of the season? Is it $55,000 per race or is there a whole season discount?

If we seriously want to make this happen I can get with Phil and see what it would take. He's the boss!

Saturday's race seems like a deal for someone to sponsor You. It's jammed right between Dogecar in Talladega, and The All Star Qualifier/Race with DogeCar. For at least 1 race, fans will watch, and see, and appreciate whoever picks you up. This would be a great PR move for any company. I would hope they sponsor you longer, but is it:

  1. Too late to sponsor? There's 5 TBA sponsors on the Entry list.

  2. Too Late to wrap? I really don't know how long it would take.

  3. What NASCAR sponsors aren't on a car atm?

I really appreciate how awesome you have been and hope we can help you out. Thanks!

not too late!

Thanks for doing this AMA and being the Doge representative I have 3 questions.

  1. What happened with that last restart, you seemed to spin your wheels a little and get shuffled back?

  2. If you weren't a NASCAR driver, what would you be doing?

  3. Except for yourself, who's your favorite driver?

Jumped to the outside with the 43 car

I have no idea!

Jimmie Johnson. He is really good. And a good guy too.

Hey Josh, this is one of the coolest things I feel that Reddit and its users have been a part of. I really hope they can continue sponsoring you over at that dogecoin community, you're a talented racer. What is the most helpful thing we could do to help your career and dream of racing? What do you see in the future?

You all have done so much already.

The press and support and fan backing is a big deal. If it stays it will be a huge help to my career and finding sponsors.

Great job on the race!

But a little away from NASCAR, when is your next Iron Man? Are you gunning to qualify for Kona? Any pics of your bike? :)

Maybe Cozumel in Dec?

I have Specialized Shiv on the way I will show some pics when I get it!

Hey Josh, I was wondering how you got to becoming a driver. I've been a life long NASCAR fan and always wanted to be a driver, but I never got the opportunity to consistently race, so what would you recommend to do to take steps to becoming a driver?

Just dont give up! Be kind, work hard, be a student and dont burn bridges.

First off great race! I was wondering if you were ever approached by other drivers wondering what the heck a dogecoin was?

oh yeah all weekend

Josh, when did it hit you this was actually going to happen?

And finally, Kurt Busch's ME car vs the Dogecar in a fight. Who wins?

About 3-4 days after Denis posted.

Dogecar cmon!

Did you receive any negative comments on the sponsorship?

Would NASCAR take issue with sponsors such as yours or other humorous advertisers that could potentially project an image not in line with NASCARs vision or is money money?

I cant really speak for nascar!

How does it feel to drive a stock car with an internet meme on it?

Felt great

Hi, Josh!! Huge fan here! Thanks for all you have done for dogecoin. Do you prefer restrictor plate races or non-restrictor plate races?

I just love driving race cars no matter what track! They all have their pros and cons! I actually love road courses

Hey Josh, do you think you may be able to have a continuing relationship with Dogecoin?

I am not going anywhere!

Hello beloved Mr. Wise,

First off I want to say you're awesome and second my question is have you started diving into crypto currency since the sponsorship.

Thanks and have a good night!

Congrats, you raced well!

How have you taken to this "reddit" thing and think you'll stick around? :D

reddit is so awesome. I am a huge fan

Hi Josh - great race - well done!

When you made your pit stop alone where you expecting others to pit with you or did you need fuel that badly that you couldn't wait?

vibration. we corded a right front tire on that run

Would you be open to sponsorship by Dogecoin moving forward?

Loved watching you, it was actually my first race I've ever watched!! Now a huge Nascar fan haha :)

would love that

thank you!

Hi, Im a big nascar fan so this is really cool. My question is about the end of the race, do you think there should of been a caution before the white and of had a GWC, ect.. theres alot of possibilities, but do you think nascar handled it right?

I heard there was a huge piece of debris on the front stretch so prob the right call!

How do you feel about DW and other reporters calling you Josh McDowell?

haha...all good!

Hey Josh how much doge would you say you're worth as of right now?

I am not sure of the conversion but I have a few hundred dollars!

Josh, congrats on driving a clean race at Talladega! 2 questions:

it feels great. that is going to be huge if we pull it off!

Is there a chance we can see Doge again in the future aside from the AllStar race?

Potentially at the Fall 'Dega race?

Fall dega would be awesome! Might as well do the Daytona 500 next year too :)

How old were you when you started racing and what was the first type of vehicle you raced? (Go cart? Lawnmower?)

I was 6 and it was a quarter midget. like a go kart that races on ovals

Hey Josh! Not sure how this question will go over, but have to ask.

Is it true that your spotter called the yellow before it was officially out causing you to loose some car lengths when it was official?

Either way, great job yesterday you showed some real skill and some great needle threading driving. Looking forward to seeing you push that car to it's limit for the rest of the season!

*edit: I didn't intend for this to come off as if I'm blaming the spotter at all. Just wanted to get that out there.

Thats a great question! He did but it actually didnt affect me because I saw the green lights still turned on. I lost my momentum when Kyle cut across my nose and I had to check up or wreck the whole field

Hi Josh, great racing out there!

I heard that the rank you got (20th) was the highest you've placed yet in this race; if that's true, do you think the dogecar and dogecoin community had an effect on it?

Thanks, and nice name by the way!

Of course there was an effect! We were able to make a stronger effort in being prepared for the race because of the sponsorship!

Hi Josh! I watched my first NASCAR race because of you, and I enjoyed it!

I sat there wondering, "How does one stay focused for longer than an hour driving 200MPH? And what is the number 1 thing you would have to look out for while driving?"

Thats not my exact thought, but you get what I'm saying/asking :)

Ad Lunam!

It is mentally draining!

I always watch out for falling debris! lol not really...but seriously im just kidding

When do you eat on a race day and what are your meals like? One big meal to tide you over till afterward, small meal right before hand? Snacks in the car to munch on?

I eat a lot!! try to keep it healthy

KFC Go Cups

Can you please post a picture of your helmet?

I might have a surprise for you all with that :) Give me a week or so..

What will it take for a top team to notice you? Do you have any goals for your future in NASCAR?

Not sure but I need to win!

and for the next question....Win! :)

Hey Mr.Wise thanks for being here! What do you think we can do to help you more? Thanks!

Gosh I dont even know. Keep supporting! Tell companies to sponsor us!

Let's take motorsports as a whole out of the equation- what section of reddit (subreddit) would you visit the most and become an active member of the community?

I have been really active in the dogecoin community and really enjoy that!

I am still finding my way around and exploring! I like just dropping in randomly on subs!

Few questions Mr. Wise:

Keep up the good driving, and congratulations for finishing 20th at Talladega yesterday!

The newly repaved Kansas is not my fave :/ I do iRacing it is crazy realistic haha i should right!? many!

Sending you a question from Russia!

As a kid, i've always wanted to be a NASCAR driver. How did you get the job?

Thanks for the support for dogecoin! You're awesomw!

Never gave up. odds have been stacked against me a lot but just keep pushing

Hi Josh,

Have you ever bought anything with Dogecoin?

not yet!

Hi Josh,

Have you ever bought anything with Dogecoin?

I tried it at Target today but I could't talk them into it

What does it feel like to be attracting so many new fans to NASCAR? As a racing fan you really made my year!!

its really awesome. im really nothing special but glad to be a part of it all!

You're wrong buddy, you have incredible talent.

:) Thanks

im really nothing special

Actually, not many people could do what you do and be as much of a genuinely good person at the same time. It's hard to be nice under stress and you have to deal with a lot more than most people! You wouldn't have gained thousands of new fans without the effort you put back into this community. We all really appreciate it!

Your making me blush! Haha

Hi Josh. Congrats on the 20th place last weekend, it was a good race. I'm Wondering what you first though of the Doge design on the the car, and what some memorable reactions of it were. Thanks!

I loved it from the start!

Any die cast or scale model Dogecars coming soon?

Lionel is who you want to talk to! I think Phil is working with them!

Last year, the 98 start and parked on a regular basis. This year, your team is now running the full races. What sparked the decision to run full distance all year?

Thank you sir!

Not my decision! I want to run full races all the time. Phil found ways to scrape by financially and make it work. We ALL want to race not be forced to stop because we cant afford it!

Hi Josh, you are definitely reddits favorite driver now, thanks for doing this. My question is what is the highlight of your racing career?

2006 Hoosier Hundred win. Passed my teammate on the last lap to win the most historical silver crown race!

how do you pronounce doge coin? Doh-gee coin or Doe-zhh coin?

its tricky!

This is amazing! I've always wondered what it's like to actually be in an AMA. My question is, how did this all get started? I'm sure a lot of people are wondering how it all came together

a user just posted a note in support of us on reddit and it went viral! long story short :)

Could you play us a song on your guitar please?

oh no you dont want that..

Well done!

Did the people you talked to there seem interesting in Dogecoin? Do you think that the publicity from this is getting more people involved? And how do you feel about your internet fame? :)

Well done again.

I think so!

The buzz is really crazy right now I am just having fun with it.

Hi Josh, I feel like a lot of people think NASCAR is just "people driving in circles". Can you tell us why the sport is more than that?

We are on the edge of wrecking at 200 mph for 3+ hours! It's def more than that

Did you enjoy having a doge on your car?

Finally made it in time for an AMA!

heck yeah

I saw your name and was like oh shit where did I read that and was like oh fuck the dogecar haha, your really the only NASCAR name I name I know other than Danika Patrick and Dale Earnhardt junior. My question is has this brought you a lot of new found popularity?

it has! crazy!

Such doge. Much NASCAR. So race.

Would you race in another doge car if people sponsored it? Edit: For example, a doge F1.

F1 would be insane! YES

Josh, I used to race gokarts and all of my friends always ask me what it takes to be a NASCAR driver.

What was your path? Where did you begin? Also, Is it true that it take $2 million to make $1 million when it comes to rising to a NASCAR driver?

Thank you for your response. My dad and I were pulling for you the whole race. You are the reason he even knows what dogecoin is and he is 58 years old!

Whether you answer this question or not you have inspired an entire group of people. Keep it up.

I started young and raced open wheel my whole life. Dirt tracks. My family had not money we just made it work every week to get to the race track. You can get to NASCAR with hard work and talent there is no doubt. But very hard.

Hey Josh!

I was just wondering, did any drivers ask you about your car? It would be awesome if you taught them about dogecoin!

bunch of em!

Can we change your Wikipedia picture to one of you wearing the Doge suit?

Why was Talledega the track you guys selected to race this car?

We are a smaller team and our best chance to win is at the Superspeedways

What have your family and friends thought about your recent success?

They are really pumped

How much do you love the doge community?

You are the reason I started watching Nascar again since 1996. So thank you for that.

like...a lot!

Has this Dogecoin sponsorship helped with getting any more sponsorship opportunities?

Great race!

nothing concrete

Hey Josh I've seen many people asking this is there any chance you could get your hands on some of those dogecoin t-shirts your team was wearing or tell us where you got them?

༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give shirts! ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

We are working on merchandise for everyone!

Dogecoin can get sponsors, but how much would we need so you can get better equipment like Hendrick, JGR, etc. have

Hard to summarize that. Those teams spend 10-15 million per car. I think we could get there for a lot less than that

Hey Josh, thanks again and good job on Sunday!

How often were you thinking about us? We all flipped out when you got up to 4th! :D

I actually did think about you all a few times :)

I have never watched a full race before - it was so exciting having someone to cheer. My question is - do you think if you win the fan vote for the all star race - it will help you get a permanent sponsor?

It def won't hurt

Hi Josh,

What was the most exciting thing about being sponsored by dogecoin.

What was the most difficult thing about dogecoins sponsorship? (so we can do it better next time)

I thought it was pretty painless! I think us being a smaller team and being flexible made it work as well. Larger teams would have been harder to do everything with IMO

Hey Josh. While I was watching the race there was a moment when you went 4 wide after fluctuating between 4th to 10th place for a few laps. What was your mindset when you decided to do this, and why do you think it ended with you losing some position?

Talladega is like a congested freeway. you pick a lane and hope that it moves. my car wasnt very fast on the bottom lane so i stayed up high. when the high lane went, i went!

What's your favorite potato based meal?

potato salad!

First and foremost, thank you for for being awesome and representing both the r/dogecoin and r/nascar communities in such a wonderful fashion. Also, congrats on your finish (which as a NASCAR fan I understand that in and of itself is an accomplishment at Talladega). How stoked are you to drive it again at CMS!? Hopefully I'll be at that race and get to see it in all it's glory!

Really stoked to do it again! come say hi!

Hey Josh! Thanks for everything so far. You've been an excellent face for Dogecoin and digital currencies in every interview you've done, because of your honesty and approachability. You don't claim to know everything about it, but you still say it is fun. We love that!

Do you accept sponsorships for your non-NASCAR related hobbies? For example, would you let Dogecoin sponsor you for your next Iron Man competition?

That would be pretty cool

What is your relationship like with the other racers? Dale Jr. in particular seemed to be frustrated with you after the race. Do you have any on-track rivalries but great relationships off-track?

No real rivalries.

this was the First time i watched NASCAR and i liked it. Would you invest in dogecoin?

Hey Josh, quick question.. if the sponsorship is there do you plan on extending your race schedule? Would love to see you at TMS for the fall race

yep hope to see you there!

whats your favorite food?

anything mexican!

First of all, congrats on the 20th place finish, and amazing job on that run you had with about 20 to go when you were up in the top 5! You had me really excited for a while! I also want to mention that I have been a fan of yours even before the whole Dogecar thing and I have picked up a few diecasts of your JRM days. Air Hogs Autographed (thank you!) car was bought early 2013, smaller cars were bought just a couple weeks ago, and I will certainly try to pickup Dogecar in both scales if I can get some extra money soon. Picture below of those cars.

Now for questions.

  1. Besides Dogecar, what is your favorite paint scheme you have ran?
  2. If you were not racing, what do you think you would be doing for money?
  3. What was the reaction that other drivers gave you about your paint scheme?
  4. To add on to #3, did the Doge on the rear end distract anyone?
  5. When you made your green flag pit stop, did you figure there was going to be other people pitting with you? I know pitting by yourself at Talladega is typically not something a driver wants, but why did you do it?
  6. What’s it like knowing that Dogecoin has brought some new fans into the sport? Back when the idea was introduced, did you ever think it would have the impact that it did?
  7. What was working with Dale Jr. like back in 2011? Did he ever give you any tips that you still use today?
  8. What kind of music do you listen to?
  9. Pretend one of your hands was amputated and the only option for a replacement was either a lobster claw or an octopus tentacle. Which do you choose?
  10. When the season started, did you ever expect to have a chance to beat Danica in the Sprint All Star fan vote?

1-hotwheels 2-no idea! 3-most thought it was funny and cool 4-Carl! 5-we had a vibration 6-It been really cool! no idea it would be this big! 7-It was cool. no real tips 8-no genre just whatever sounds good! 9-claw? i think. 10-no way!

[No question]

Dang I really appreciate all the questions!!! You guys are so awesome. Have a great night!

Yea, I have a question. How does it feel to be associated with the fucking stupidest meme on the internet?

Haha! Feels great!

11 hours old, 3000 comments. And I get a reply... Not sure how I feel about that! If I would have known I'd get a reply maybe I would have asked a normal question! Although it is a pretty dumb meme.

You gotta say though- it is silly and hilarious. Did you see the back of the car!? We had fun with it and Dogecoin and that community was awesome!

Did you find that the car was just too loose to keep in the groove down low?

No it just would hold speed down there for some reason

Do you actually understand what dogecoin is? Because I don't.

Yeah I do! It took some looking into but go talk with my friends at /r/Dogecoin and they will help you out!

Don't know if your going to be back and answer some more question but I have one. How was it like to be racing in the middle of the top drivers in the series knowing that thousands of people were rooting for you?

I don't really get start struck when racing around guys. They are just another car on the track! But it was awesome knowing we had so much support!

Did not scroll through comments but I'm curious.. Do they pay you in doge?

As far as the sponsorship went? Yes it was raised in doge! 67million! We did have to convert is to used because the engine builder, tires etc don't accept doge as payment YET! :)

What made you settle with Nascar?

NASCAR is just where my opportunities came. I always races open wheel cars and dreamt of racing the Indy 500 when I was a kid. NASCAR is actually pretty fun I wouldn't change a thing!

Can you explain the difference between doge coin and bitcoin to me? I have a loose understanding of cryptocurrency but these two seem like the same thing.

I am def not an expert on this but check out /r/Dogecoin and I bet they can give you a good explanation! Dogecoin is really new and fun and bitcoin has been around a while, I do know that.

Ya, I have a question. Why didn't you win?

Disclaimer: I know literally nothing about NASCAR.

I wish I had a better answer other than this- because I didn't cross the finish line first!!

Are you aware that dogecar is racegod backwards?

Yeah pretty cool huh?

How much weight (Liquid I am assuming) do you loose over the course of the race?

I have never done a true before and after weigh in. But between 3-6 lbs if I had to guess

Where will you be heading next with the dogs coin car? To the moon?

There and hopefully Charlotte in a few weeks!

Why did you do so poorly? 20th place is crap compared to the work reddit put in

That's exactly how I feel! You all deserve better!

I don't know much about NASCAR, but your maneuvering around the accidents / potential accidents was ace. Excellent job.

Hi Josh,

No question. Just a relevant name.

I'm not a big NASCAR guy and unfortunately I didn't get to see the race, but I heard you were great.

now on to my question, what kind of publicity did you get when you accepted the Dogecoin sponsorships?

P.S: thanks for answering most questions in this thread!

It was crazy how much press there was. Really blew me away and it just continued to gain momentum all the way through the race weekend. Was great for all parties involved!

Do you personally have any dogecoins? bitcoins? Are you personally interested in bitcoins and digital currency in general?

I have dogecoins yes!

I bet you have a lot by now. Dogecoin is worth real money you know, you may have hundereds worth of USD by now. That's pretty cool, it may revolutionize the way internet currency transactions work.

I think it will

Would like to start with a thank you, for helping the community, and the question is, would you give your helmet a doge design? Its understandable if you dont want to, since helmet designs are special for every driver.

Rats I missed this.... just got up 4 work... glad you did so well... hope you get the Sprint cup vote!

Thanks! Sorry u missed it!

Not sure if you are doing this anymore, however I saw a few posts in /r/dogecoin asking if you were interested in a full season of dogecar? Is this true? If so, I have just spent all of my doge! :D

No doubt that would be the most awesome thing ever.

Who paid for the ad? I didn't know dogecoin was a company.

All of you in reddit did it! Mainly Dogecoin and NASCAR reddit

I have to admit, as a long time F1 fan I had my preconceptions about watching NASCAR, but watching you on Sunday completely changed how I see the sport. I would NEVER have expected myself to watch the entire race, but thanks to what this community has achieved, I simply couldn't leave my seat, or rather the edge of it. Now that I have someone to cheer for, I plan to watch a lot more of it in the future. Thank You and everyone else here for introducing me to this awesome form of motorsport!

That's so cool!

I was watching the race with my folks, and I had to do a double-take when I saw Doge from Earnhardt Jr.'s dash camera! This is awesome, and I hope the Dogecoin car appears in more races and future seasons.

Couldn't miss that face!

Do you personally think that Dogecoin and similar online currencies will ever become used in everyday purchases?

I do

Had a brilliant time watching you on sunday, loving the doge stare out the back! Was the preparations with the media any different to usual for the race because of the dogecoin funding or was it just usual interviews. Also was there a greater fan presense felt at the track supporting your car?

There was a TON of media and we tried to take advantage of it all. Wanted to get as much exposure for Dogecoin and reddit as possible

Did you have a pep talk before the race said in a doge-like structure?

For example: wow, such race, very fast

Much must win! How go faster?!

I hear NASA is looking for astronauts, if you can drive a racecar, you can drive a rocket.

Where do I apply??

hello josh,i know nothing of nascar, can you guys also drive in F1 too?

Not likely but I would in a heartbeat!

do you think time is linear or cyclical?

I think of it like a tire rolling along a line..

What does your wife and your children think of all this? If my dad was dogedriver I would be freaking out even more haha

They just think I'm a dork still :)

so have you always liked the doge meme or is it just that reddit funded it for you?

I didn't know much about it before this. Love it though

Hey Josh, just wanted to say good job on the 20th place finish. All of the wreck dodges were intense. One quick question, were you able to watch my highlights reel at all?

Not yet been a busy week so far! I saw the one where we zapped Carl Edwards that's about it!

I'm just sad that I'll never be as good a NASCAR driver as you.

I'm not nearly poor or stupid enough.

Hey Josh, what are your musical tastes? Figured I'd change it up from all of the racing/doge questions.

I def don't have a genre. I just listen to what sounds good! Been into Calvin Harris lately it's good workout music!

When you were growing up, was it your dream to be a Nascar driver, or did it just kinda happen? Also, TO THE MOON.

Always my dream to race

Hey Josh if you need some doge check out my subreddit, /r/Dogefaucet. I'll give you seven doge every single day.

Will do!

i think it would be much more realistic to only purchase one decal on the car (back bumper) for the remainder of the season, we should def get some numbers for that.

Great driving josh! I'm a longtime F1 and Indy fan, I have never been so excited to watch infinite left turns! You tha man!

That's awesome thanks!

Since you're new to reddit you should try and install Reddit Enhancement Suite. It makes reddit much better. Just about all off reddit swears by it. Anyone here can vouch for me.

Thanks for getting me into NASCAR.

I will do this!

What was your favorite part about the Dogecar or Dogesuit? I love the shiba on the back but the color scheme was nice. Do you like the suit more than the car or the other way around?

Have a nice day and good luck in your next races.

P.S. you've gotten me interested in NASCAR. I'll try and watch your next races. Thanks! You're the best.

The rocket up the leg!!
