Aziz Ansari

March 21, 2012

I am Aziz Ansari. Comedian/actor. Thanks for having me again. AMA.

I guess I should mention you can download my new standup special Dangerously Delicious on azizansari.com for only $5. Hopefully you already heard about that though?

What does Nick Offerman smell like? This is important.

This is true. He smells like cappucinos or something cause he uses these lozenges to stop smoking. It's kind of warm and comforting. He also eats a lot of bacon and does woodwork stuff just like Ron Swanson. He's the best.

best brunch place in NYC??

I really like Five Points for brunch.

What happened to Human Giant?

We did two seasons, they asked for a third, but we decided to move on to other projects. I hope you enjoyed it.

Human Giant was one of my favorite things that MTV ever put out.

Wow thanks, I'm glad you liked it.

How are your $5 sales doing?

Also, why are your suits in Parks & Recreation always too large? Is it a new fashion trend we're not aware of or not?

Good. Its been really fun and interesting.

How much of your personality is incorporated into Tom Haverford?

We both love hip hop and suits. And are small bearded Indian men.

In real life, do you call chicken parm "chicky chicky parm parm"? Please say yes.

No but I do say sammys.

When did you decide to go with the 5 dollar stand up on your website?

I recorded the special in June and paid for it myself, knowing I wanted to release it online. A few months later I was with Louis CK watching his special while he edited and he told me his plan. I wasn't sure if it would work. It clearly did. People loved that method and immediately I was asked if I would do it so, it seemed like a smart move.

The smartest people know how dumb they really are.

Hahah that's an amazing quote. Agreed.

I just bought it, I had only heard of you, never watched your comedy but 1) the clip was funny 2) it's 5 bucks 3) I fucking love this new model and hope it catches on.

As someone who has pirated a lot, if you give me an opportunity to buy something whenever I want for a fair price I will pay for it!

Thanks for doing it! I hope it's really profitable for you!

Edit: Its for it's. Surprised nobody has pitchforked me yet!

Wow that's awesome. My one worry was that I'd just be preaching to the choir with this type of release, but I'm glad you found it and grabbed it. Thanks so much.

I thought it was probably inspired by Louis C. K. That's great that you're doing one as well, I think it's a much fairer system to just charge a few bucks and give the customer the video, plain and simple no complications. Maybe more people will see the potential profits and follow suit.

I really believe that people won't steal if buying is fairly priced and convenient. There have been several studies saying that, and I believe it.

Jim Gaffagin, Joe Rogan, you, and several other comedians are now planning on releasing 5 dollar specials online. Louis laid down a pretty genius fame work.

As soon as I announced it, the overall collective response has overwhelmingly been "THANK GOD MORE PEOPLE ARE DOING THIS!!" He definitely figured it out.

Can you get Harris to do an AMA?

Holy shit that's a good idea. I'll ask. He's super lazy though. He'd probably rather sit around crushing people at Scramble with Friends and eating Chobani strawberry yogurt.

My question is how do Harris and Darwish feel about all these jokes you do about them? How do their parents feel? I mean... I have a t-shirt with Harris' face on it.

Also, love your work man. You're one of my favorite comedians

Hahaha I forgot I made those shirts. They are supportive. I have a crazy of photo of Darwish getting a cheek kiss from two girls while wearing a Darwish shirt on Halloween. It's amazing.

I really want to play Harris at Scramble now. Even if I get beat, I'll just giggle thinking of a chubby Indian kid on the other side slamming down strawberry yogurt and all will be good.

Dude is so good. Like 800-1000/round average.

What if you gathered a list of questions to ask him, randomly ask him said questions over the course over anywhere where between a day and many year, while carefully documenting his responses, and then post the aforementioned responses after you have gathered a sufficient amount?

That's a good plan.

and Scramble with Friends is so last week. It's all about Draw Something.

DUDE EVERYONE KEEPS GETTING ON ME BOUT DRAW SOMETHING, I JUST GOT MY SCRAMBLE ON DAMN!

This would be the time where you would post that picture on the internet.

I'll check if Darwish is cool with it

What's on your personal Oh No No list?

Rudeness. A propensity to commit hate crimes.

Dude! What's your favorite spot to eat in LA?

I really like Ricky's Fish Tacos and Guisados right now.

Would you consider doing a gig in Ireland?

Yeah, I want to tour more internationally its just tough to fit in so much touring with filming Parks and Rec.

What is your favorite book?

I don't have a favorite. I finally read Outliers and really enjoyed that. Also Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

Day made. Thanks, I'm adding those to my reading list!

Was kidding about Seagull. Outliers is fucking dope though.

Do you talk to the production assistants?

Yes.

Not a question, but I bought your special and it's hilarious. Thanks for releasing it the right way.

Thanks so much!!!!!!

Is there any way the Buried Alive tour could make its way to Utah?

Yeah I worked on some material in Salt Lake City and it was super fun. Will try to come back and do a proper theatre show in the Fall.

Aziz! Will you be coming back to Los Angeles? your show at the Improv in Irvine was epic.

Yeah gonna do LA in the fall.

How long do you work on a set before you film it?

For a long time. Writing the material for a tour takes about 8 months to a year, depending on my acting commitments. Then I toured this one, on and off for about a year? Buried Alive has taken me about a year to write. I'll tour that for a while before recording it.

What is the best joke you know that you can tell on the internet but not in one of your specials?

With internet release, I can tell whatever joke I want in my specials cause its uncensored. Woooooo!

Come back to Montreal, plz?

Dude Montreal has the tastiest food, of course I'm coming back. The dates haven't been announced but trust they're coming.

not really a question but a am relatively new to twitter, and you were one of my first people i followed. when you were posting on that airplane with all the #watchthtethrone stuff it was soo fucking hilarious.

You know this isn't Twitter right?

When the hell do we get to see Dangerously Delicious on DVD?

Go to azizansari.com and you can download or stream it now for $5.

[deleted]

He's awesome. Yes, they both love meats and woodworking.

You think you could hook me up with Rashida Jones?

Yeah I'll text her that sturgeon25 is DOWN.

Favorite comedian?

Louis CK, Doug Stanhope, Hannibal Buress, Chelsea Peretti

Why did you put out your new special in .MOV? :(.. and why no RAAAANNNNDDDYYY? Are you over that character?

I told em to switch it to .mp4 after reading some comments on Twitter and stuff. Randy I just did when I was filming Funny People and felt I did all I wanted to do with him for now.

That's awesome! Please ask them to re-encode the .mp4 from the source instead of simply changing the container from .mov --> .mp4 as the quality of the video in the .mov was not great at all, it had quite a bit of pixelation and video noise/artifacts throughout, way more than a 1.6GB file at 720p should have.

Ok I forwarded that to the team. Any other thoughts/ideas?

i downloaded in .mov if i redownload will it be .mp4?

I'll post an update on Twitter

ಠ_ಠ

You are asking the comedian a tech question. Not all Indians are tech support buddy.

I CAN HOLD MY OWN

[deleted]

I love them. Ricky's Fish Tacos (LA) Guisados (LA) Taco Zone (LA) Torchy's (Austin) Tacos Morelos (NYC

Favorite comedians?

Hannibal Buress, Chelsea Peretti, Doug Stanhope, Louis CK, Patrice O'Neal (check out Mr. P, the bit about bread is so funny)

Could you describe your "first big break" into the world of comedy? Also, you are phenomenal.

I don't know if there was a real "big break," it was just a bunch of years of working on stuff leading to bigger projects. But maybe Human Giant on MTV if I had to pick one?

[deleted]

NYC!!!!!

Where does Obamas shoutout rank on your list of accomplishments?

That's up there. I can't believe that happened.

[deleted]

Yeah that's racist. Don't do that.

What would you have done if the comedy thing didn't pan out?

I don't know, probably just be a fat Indian man that eats a lot of food and lives at home.

First off, I love you.

Second, if I walked up to you and said just that, how would you respond.

Thank you so much, but please let me get back to the tacos I was eating.

...really, though? it's FIVE BUCKS. ಠ_ಠ

I wanted to put up fake torrents that just had Jingle All the Way. Do that if you're bored somebody!

I wanna know toooo :D

That was after a Watch the Throne show in LA.

Hi Aziz Ansari!! Huge, huge fan. Tell us a bit about how it felt to see the President of the United States of America not only talking about you, but teasing you about your Twitter follower count? That just sounds like it would be the most surreal moment ever.

Edit: Link to video for the curious.

It was insane. I'm going to talk about it on Fallon next Wednesday, I'll tell the whole story.

I also saw you at the Comedy Cellar with this lovely lady here. Thanks for showing up unannounced!

Yeah I was working on the story for Fallon! Glad you liked it.

Favorite part of your career to date?

Releasing this special directly to fans has been pretty cool. Performing at Carnegie Hall in NYC. First time I did Letterman.

he died eating a girl out underwater.

Yep.

Are you circumcised? This is REALLY important!

I'm really concerned that this is "REALLY important."

How close is the Parks cast? Any awesome stories you can share?

We are very close. Amy is actually sitting next to me on this flight I'm on. They just showed the bowling episode of Parks. Very weird!

Aziz for SNL! Any interest in hosting?

I really would love to. Hopefully it'll happen soon.

Is there one routine that has become your “Free Bird”, in that everywhere you go people request to hear it, and you just don’t enjoy doing it anymore?

I always do new material when I do a new tour. In Dangerously Delicious I do give an update on Harris which people seemed to appreciate.

Did Louis CK give you advice on your online stand up, Dangerously Delicious? Also, what does Louis CK smell like?

Louis has given me a bunch of great advice on a ton of things. He's a really smart and nice person.

How do you feel about Donald Glover's career, careers I should say, as a rapper, comedian and actor?

Donald is a friend from back in UCB-NY days and he's a really nice dude. I wish him continued success.

How is Harris doing these days?

Playing Scramble with friends, taking down Chobani yogurts.

How did you get your career started in acting? Also, can you be my swagger coach?

I started through standup and then making short films with Human Giant.

Hello Mr. Ansari! I'm a big fan of your work. I first discovered you through your episode of Flight of the Conchords and have since followed you through projects. My question to you is which of these projects has been the most personally rewarding to you and why? Thank you sir!

Doing standup comedy is the most rewarding, but I love the other stuff too.

What are some of the new shows that Harris is watching?

Pretty sure he's watching Suits and White Collar. I love there's 2 USA shows with vague titles based on clothing. Leather Belt, Thurs at 10/9c on USA.

We know you love fish tacos, but how do you feel about shrimp tacos?

Personally, I am in favor of them.

Dude Ricky's in LA makes a mean shrimp taco. I'm in favor.

will your night show (10PM) in philly be as good as the 7pm show? Im hoping for the best!!

Both will be good, thanks for coming.

Ok I've been meaning to find this out for a while:

What was the rap song that plays during the Human Giant sketch where you try to get tickets for Ghostface Killah by having Paul and Rob run you over with a car? I can't find the name of it anywhere

Shit I can't remember, try to use Soundhound maybe? I actually think its a library song and not a real song you can buy.

You just released a new standup the same way Louis ck did. Was that your inspiration and do you see this model becoming popular in the entertainment business?

it was the obvious inspiration. Based on the response I've gotten, people really like buying something direct from an artist for $5 that's DRM free. But who knows what'll happen and change the landscape next time.

How would you respond to those who say that the essence of your RAAAAANDY character has become more of your act than your jokes?

I created Randy so I don't think that's true. Randy talks primarily about eating pussy, fucking, getting his thing suck. None of which I really discuss. Also before I recorded Dangerously Delicious, I did sets where I basically stood still and almost whispered the jokes with very little effort to make sure the writing was solid and that bits weren't relying just on delivery, etc.

Why were you not in town for SXSW? Don't you miss Torchy's Tacos!?!

I'm coming to Austin for the Moontower Festival in April. I'll definitely take down some Torchy's.

Upcoming projects, specifically a Randy Movie? Did that fall through the cracks?

We sold that idea but decided to work on other the projects we sold first. All of that stuff is "in development," "going through drafts," etc. Movie stuff is so slow. That's why I love standup!!!

Do you think you'll ever become so successful you'll no longer do stand-up, or do you view stand-up as a necessary part of your career?

I love standup and hope to do it when I'm old as fuck. Its the best.

If you were able to write yourself into the next season of Breaking Bad, who would your character be?

Oh my god. Great question. Maybe Tuco's lil' nephew? Or Saul's intern?

Tom's singing to Ann in Parks n' Rec recently seemed to really win her over. Are there any smooth RnB jams you'd recommend to win over that special someone?

Boys to Men - On Bended Knee Seal - Kissed by a Rose

Do you ever get tired of people blatantly confusing you for Randy and expecting your stand up to just be Randy stuff?

When I do shows, I don't think anyone expects a guy named Randy, I mean it says Aziz Ansari on the tickets, so I think everyone understands that's a character I played in a movie.

Was your decision to do the special and sell it directly online pretty immediate after seeing the success of Louis CK's? Was it any more difficult to put it together than going through traditional means?

Do you own any furniture, canoes, etc. made by Nick Offerman?

Yes it was my decision. I funded the special myself and shot it last June with the goal of releasing it online. Louis found a great way to do it and since it was so successfull and well liked, it seemed like the best route.

  1. Why are you so amazing?
  2. I tried very desperately via Twitter to get you to come to LA on your comedy tour; will you come back to LA?

Thanks. I'm doing LA dates in the fall.

What kind of music do you listen to lately?

I like Beach House a lot and am anticipating there new album!

Have any other Harris stories? Or are you saving them for future shows?

Edit: also, have any other favorite racial slurs? It's cool, we're ready for it, we won't be offended.

Harris stories - there are too many, I decided not to do any on the new tour though. There is a new one on Dangerously Delicious about helping with his college essay that might be the best one. There was one I cut about where I tricked him into thinking he had Drake's AIM handle.

Racial slurs - go to Wikipedia and type List of Racial Slurs. BOOM.

Aziz, as a guy who wants to be a comedian, what are some tips you recommend? Also, I notice you don't involve your race in your material, why is that?

Just do as many standup spots as you can and try to get better. That's all I do to this day.

I met you at SXSW 2011 and you talked with me for a little bit. It was totally awesome. Does it get annoying getting stopped by fans, being asked for autographs, etc?

People are always super nice for the most part. I don't mind. If I'm in a hurry and need to get moving, people are usually pretty understanding.

Can you give us a breakdown of how you go about writing material? Like from the moment you think of something funny to performing it live on stage? Thanks.

An idea pops in my head and I write it in my phone or notebook. Then I usually have bullet points of joke ideas and start trying them out at small shows in NY or LA and then develop them over time. I put an hour of that together and that's a tour. It took like 8 months to put together my new tour Buried Alive.

Has Harris revised his college essay?

I think he sent something even stranger in about playing Halo but I couldn't turn it into a standup bit. It was just fucking weird. He goes to NYU now.

would you ever host SNL if they asked?

OF COURSE!!!!! I would love to host.

Tell us a funny story about Amy Poehler.

She's randomly happens to be sitting next to me on this plane. For real! We haven't spoken a word.

big fan dogg 2 qs! Who's your current favorite rappers besides r Kelly, ye and Hov??? (curren$y? A$APRocky? Wiz??) AND When's Harris bout to do one of these?

I like the way you type stuff dogg. I'm bad at picking favorites. I'll ask Harris to do a Reddit AMA. That'd be awesome.

You ask your Twitter followers pretty frequently about good places to eat when you land in a city. Do you prefer to pick local specialties or do you have a set of established preferences you tend to pick from?

I like whatever is the local specialty.

Aziz, what's your favorite food?

If I had to pick one - tacos.

When's your next trip to the Washington, DC area?

Probably fall or 2013. I recorded Dangerously Delicious in DC back in June.

Do you have any plans to act in (or direct?) any upcoming movies? 30 Minutes or Less was my favorite movie of 2011.

Yeah acting for sure. I have a few movies in development that I'm excited about and will hopefully shoot one in my next hiatus from Parks and Recreation.

Best restaurant you've eaten at? And, how crazy is David Chang?

I can't pick one, in the Dangerously Delicious bonus pack I put a good list of my favorites from all over the country. CHANG IS THE FUCKING MAN!!!

Hi Aziz. Do you want to come back to my place after your show in Ottawa this summer and play Video Games? I promise there will be plenty of biscuits!

Wait, in that joke do I mention biscuits? I thought I just say "Then some Indian dude invites me back to his dorm to play video games." Someone else referenced biscuits to me too. That's why I ask.

[deleted]

No but guess what I got in my fridge? MOTHERFUCKIN RPM MIAMI ENERGY DRINK!!!! FOR REAL.

How did you get started and break into comedy? Was it tough to decide to focus soley on comedy? Did you have to make lots of sacrifices (in the beginning)?

I started doing standup in college and it went from there. Sacrifices? You just do standup as much as you can every night, not a sacrifice if you love it.

What are the first 5 songs I would hear coming from your own DJ Roomba?

Drake - The Motto Meek Mill - I'm a Boss Jay Z - Can I Live? French Montana - Shot Caller (Remix with Diddy version) The Throne - I Love You So

What's the best thing you like about working with Amy Poehler? What's the most unexpected ting she's ever done that you know of?

She's awesome. She's randomly sitting next to me on this flight watching that new Sherlock Holmes show from BBC. That's unexpected.

2 tours and no South Carolina appearances? Think you would ever do a secret show or something special down this way?

I did seven shows in Charleston to raise money for my old high school. Where were you TophMcToph??! I'll come back.

How do you deal with shitty crowds during your standup set? Do you just plow through and hope that the awesomeness of your set will win 'em over or do you start fucking with the crowd?

99.99% of the crowds are awesome. There's usually like 3 or 4 idiots who aren't even heckling (which doesn't really happen) but they just yell nonsense (example in Miami a dude just randomly yelled "Cocaine!" for no reason), but those people eventually stop most of the time.

Who would win in a fight between Randy and Tom Haverford? Which side would Aziz be on?

Dude Randy would beat the shit out of anybody. Or slap the fuck out of em and then run like hell.

Are you ever coming back to New Orleans?

YES! I love New Orleans. Tour date announced later this week probably. Cochon was so delicious.

Any new Darwish/Harris stories?

There's a new Harris story in Dangerously Delicious about helping him with his college essay. Its the best Harris story IMO.

Are you ever going to be on an episode of how did this get made with Paul scheer?

I saw Paul yesterday and did a fun bit on NTSF:SUV. Would love to do the podcast sometime. He's the best.

What was your favorite meal in the last few months? I know you love food, which one really stood out and where was it?

Cochon in New Orleans. Rabbit and dumplings???!?! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!

Musicians have been self-releasing albums for years. With your new special and Louis CK's, it seems like comedy is starting to go towards that model as well. Do you think self-releasing material is the way of the future? Do you think it could be successfully adopted by mainstream TV shows or movies?

I don't know things change so rapidly. I paid for my special myself in June of 2010 and was trying to figure out how to do it and then Louis did his thing and it was like "Oh that's how." But something else could happen in the next few months that changes everything, so who knows.

I don't mean to be insensitive but I was just wondering how your Dangerously Delicious gamble was going.

What a sweet way of asking that question. Good so far. I put it out with no notice at all so that's been interesting. Did you guys like that as soon as it was announced it was available? That was the goal.

You won't reply to this question:

What made you put “Dangerously Delicious” online for $5? You gonna do this more often in the future?

Prove me wrong.

I answered very similar questions up top, but basically I wanted to release my special online. I recorded it in June of 2011 and paid for it myself. I was debating methods of release and then Louis did his thing which worked so well, so that seemed to be the move. My next special won't be out for a while, so we'll have to wait and see waht the landscape is then.

[deleted]

That show was fun. I saw Paul yesterday and did a bit on NTSF:SUV.

Aziz. Any chance of edinburgh/uk dates soonish?

Maybe its hard to tour internationally because of shooting on Parks but I'll try.

What was your first time doing stand-up? Do you have a routine to get you ready to go rock tha mic--randy style?

It was summer of 2001 at a new talent night in NYC.

how is Harris doing?

Probably watching White Collar on HULU.

[deleted]

BREAKING BAD. But psyched for Mad Men to come back too.

[No question]

Just wanted to say I love doing these things. You all ask better questions than almost all regular interviews.

What do you make of today’s news that R. Kelly is officially coming out with a new “Trapped in the Closet” DVD? (http://pitchfork.com/news/45867-r-kellys-trapped-in-the-closet-returns/)

WHAT???!

You never really talk about your time on Scrubs. Was that meant to be a more permanent role with their new cast? I loved Big Ed.

Yeah Ed got abruptly fired because I hard to start work on Parks and Recreation. It was a lot of fun. Bill Lawrence and everyone there are really nice.

How likely is it that we can smoke together at Bonnaroo?

I'll run around shouting "IS JAKEDOWNS ANYWHERE HERE? I'M READY TO SMOKE WITH YOU!!! IT'S ME AZIZ!" Keep ya ears open.

On Parks and Rec we've seen bloopers of you guys doing "fun runs" where you just take a joke whereever you can.

Have there been any episodes in season 4 where you added your own joke to a scene that made it to final cut?

Yeah there's a lot of random jokes but hard to remember. Most of the stuff is the writers. I did write most of that R&B song I sing to Anne. They always give me a lot of leeway with the "singing bits."

Have you ever had sex with a Pharaoh?

No but I once delicately placed a pussy inside a sarcophagus.

Is P. Diddy cool?

Dude is hilarious. We did a Ciroc commercial together once and I was in Get Him to the Greek with him for like 2 mins. He's super funny.

Most random person you'd love to have guest on Parks and Rec?

Hmmm, I dunno, wait DING! How about the guy that played Hector Salamanca in Breaking Bad (in a wheelchair with his bell)?

Hey man, I'm a one shot wonder Indian comedian who just sort of gave up on comedy and joined the Marines instead. I was wondering if I could just ride your coat tails or be your stunt double or something. I want to be the Aziz to your Kanye.

There is a dire lack of Indian stuntmen. I always get white guys that have to get browned up with makeup.

what bone thugs song would you pick to play at your wedding?

Down '71 (The Getaway)

Did you decide to sell your standup special after seeing the success Louis CK had or did you have similar plans in the works for a while before he ran his special for $5?

I paid for my special myself and wanted to release it online, then as I was debating various distribution models, Louis did his and it clearly worked and people loved it, so I decided to do that as wel.

Hey, First, Dangerously Delicious is great. I was wonder if Louie C.K. inspired you at all for this kind of release? Do you think this is how comedy will be released now?

Thanks. Yeah Louis is a friend and I'm a huge fan as well. I don't know how comedy will be released in the future, but right now, people like this method. Its definitely risky though, you gotta make sure you can make your money back. (FINGERS CROSSED OVER HERRRRRRR)

What is your best advice for someone who wants to get into comedy?

Just do standup as much as you possibly can and keep trying to get better.

Can you speak on your experiences at UCB? What courses did you take, and would you ever consider teaching there like other UCB Alums?

I took the first four levels, but always focused primarily on standup.

I took the first four levels, but always focused primarily on standup.

Want to add - my favorite class was with Ian Roberts. That was a really big influence.

How often do you sit down and think up new material and where do you get your inspiration from? Do you usually tell your stuff to friends and family to gauge how well you've designed them?

Stuff just pops in my head or something happens and I think "Oh I can do a bit about this." I gauge by trying it out in small comedy clubs.

Do you ever hang out with other comedians?

Yes.

What's your favorite past time?

EATING GOOD FOOD SON

This is so cool! Nice to see you! Who are some of your role models as a stand-up comedian? How long a day do you work on comedy, on average? Is this more or less than say... Four years ago? Thanks so much!

Louis CK, Chris Rock. Those dudes are the best and work hard as fuck on their standup. I try to follow their work ethic.

I saw you do some impromptu stand-up at Frank in Austin at SXSW in 2011. Any chance of a tour through south Texas?

I'm doing Austin in late April, but think it sold out, I'll come back again the fall maybe.

Not a question, but a request. Come the fuck to Montana, sir.

That'd be much more hilarious if your name was Montana.

What are you feelings around dairy products? I am going to your show in Milwaukee and I want to make sure I bring you the perfect dairyland gift.

I just ate some milk and cookies. I was into it.

is your new special the same material as your current/upcoming tour?

can we hang out after your SF show? I know good eats!

NOOO! Buried Alive is all new material. I KNOW GOOD EATS IN SF, DON'T UNDERESTIMATE ME

If you had to live off of one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Tacos

I love your twitter primarily for the food recs. I notice you come to Detroit often (I'm coming to your Royal Oak show on Cinco de Mayo!). My question is, what's your fav restaurant in this area? Also, join me and my cousins for Cinco Margs and Tacos??

What's that BBQ palce in Detroit? Small's? That was good. Some dude looked up my name on Google Image and held his laptop next to my face to confirm it was me.

[deleted]

Yep

If you could no longer work in show business, what would you do for work?

Try to host a travel show where I eat food and become fatter

Loved Dangerously Delicious! Really hoping to see an animated GIF of the sign language for "jizz everywhere" sometime soon!

Oh man, tweet me a GIF, I'll post it.

How did you get involved with the Kobe commercial?

Nike just called me a day or two before and I did it. The director was Jody Hill who does Eastbound and who I worked with on Observe and Report so I know it'd be good.

where are your ancestors from? India? Bangladesh? Do you watch cricket?

India, seems like a question that you could easily have answered without hitting me directly on Reddit though. All good.

[deleted]

Me, Kanye, and Kobe are playing Boggle while I do this Reddit AMA. It's my turn, gotta run.

What are your thoughts about Rampart

Man Woody Harrelson really fucked himself here huh??!

What has been your favorite movie to work on so far and what has your favorite line in a movie been?

Can't pick a favorite movie. But favorite line might be "YELLOW!" from Funny People cause it kept making Seth and I laugh and I never thought it'd make it in.

What has it been like to suddenly get to meet and hang out with people who you were a fan of before you became famous? I love reading stuff you post online since you're such a pop culture nerd (in the best "I want to eat food and watch The Wire with you" way), except you have actually spent time with so many people you've nerded out over.

Meeting you people admire and respect is really crazy. The coolest shit ever was I dropped in to work on new standup at this comedy club in NYC and Chris Rock did too and after we both talked for a long time about developing material and comedy and all sorts of stuff. That dude is WHY I even became a comedian. I couldn't believe it. He's the best.

Are you and Ben (Schwartz) real life best friends?

BECAUSE YOU SHOULD BE

We're buds, he's a great dude.

The last celebrity that did an AMA on reddit wound up naked and masturbating in public. How do you plan on topping him?

WHOA IS THAT TRUE?? He did??? I got a lot to live up to. Maybe Stugeon45 dared him to do it?

Hi Aziz! I live in Grand Rapids, and I'm not sure how aware of this you guys were, but the whole city practically lost their shit when 30 Minutes or Less was in town filming.

What was the audition process like for Parks and Rec?

I got really lucky and they just cast me off old work I had done (mainly Human Giant).

If you were stuck on an island with Harris, would you rather eat his fat reserves or starve?

That is all.

Hahahahhaahhaha. He's actually skinny now, he hit a growth spurt and stretched out. I love the idea of Harris' fat reserves though.

What is your writing process like? Do you get stage fright, and if so, how do you overcome it? How do you handle material that flops? Is there a secret formula for being funny?

Things pop in my head, I jot em down and then think of bullet points for jokes. I try them in smaller clubs and see how it goes. I don't get stage fright, I'm pretty comfortable on stage, I'm a comedian!

Randy, will you go down on me?

As long as its not underwaaaaaaaaaater

I can't stop reading all of his replies in his voice.

Whaaaaaaaaaaat hahahaha

Hey Aziz. Can you give a little more info about the food club you're in with Eric Wareheim and Jason Woliner?

Food club is the shit. Check Eric's twitter feed for a photo from our last plaque ceremony.

I bought your special yesterday. I was surprised by how much cool stuff you put in there! Thanks!

Oh nice! Thanks. Glad you liked the bonus stuff.

Aziz, I couldn't get tickets for your first Chicago show this summer, but I got tix for the late show. Should I get drunk in case you decide to phone it it? It's my birthday, so this is important.

No please don't get drunk! It'll be good.

We went to the same high school (GSSM) and you rejected my friend request :( We could have been best friends!

I don't have a Facebook account just a Fanpage. That was a fake Aziz!

what's your favorite human giant sketch that you feel defines what you scheer and huebel were going for?

Viral Videos or Carpet Monkey

Can you come to Ann Arbor? Or at least Detroit? Not trying to get you killed so maybe just come to Ann Arbor.

Yeah for sure, gotta hit up Zingermans

did you set up your letsbubbletea.com profile yet, Aziz?

How crazy was that. Can't believe that's a site.

Hey! One more question. Im 28, about to be 29 and I work in Television Makreting and advertising for ABC, so my foot is already in the door. I want to live my dream of being a comdey writer. Is it too late to try to jump into that or should I stick with what I do now? I'm thinking I might already be a little too old for wanting to start something new. What do you think???

"Never too late to follow your dreams." - Mr. T (sounds like somethign he'd say)

[No question]

Hey sorry I left abruptly, was using wifi on a plane and we landed. I'm back now. Sturgeon25 still no word for Rashida but I let her know you were interested.

[No question]

Shit. I actually gotta go now. Thanks for all your questions. We'll do it again soon? Also thanks to everyone that bought the special. I'll work on getting Harris to do an AMA, if you all plant those fake Dangerously Delicious torrents with either Jingle All the Way or Rampart.
